Pergolas and lattice systems are permanent outdoor structures. Unlike retractable awnings, they stay in place through every season. The shade comes from a roof system — open lattice, fabric cover, louvered panels, or a solid roof — attached to posts and beams.
For homes in Nocatee, the World Golf Village area, and anywhere with a large patio or pool deck, a pergola creates an outdoor room that works April through November.
Five main styles cover most projects:
Open lattice. Classic wood or aluminum beams crossing overhead. Filters sunlight, lets rain through. Good for gardens and ambient shade.
Fabric-covered. A pergola frame with a stretched or slide-on fabric roof. Blocks 90 percent of UV while still feeling open.
Motorized louvered roof. Aluminum louvers rotate from open to closed on command. Fully closed, the roof sheds rain. Fully open, you get sky. This is our most popular style.
Solid-roof pavilion. A true outdoor structure with a permanent insulated roof. Great for outdoor kitchens and year-round use.
Cantilevered extensions. Pergolas attached to the house on one side with no posts at the outer edge. Cleaner look for decks and pools.
We build pergolas in three main materials:
Aluminum. Powder-coated, rot-free, and low-maintenance. Best for coastal homes because salt air doesn't corrode it. Louvered systems are always aluminum.
Cedar and redwood. Classic look, naturally rot-resistant. Needs re-staining every 3 to 5 years. Best for inland lots and shaded areas.
Composite lumber. Splits the difference — wood look with near-zero maintenance. Good for HOA communities that require natural appearance.
Most projects we quote go aluminum. The maintenance savings over 20 years is significant.
Louvered roof pergolas are our fastest-growing product. A motor in each beam rotates the louvers anywhere from fully closed (shedding rain) to fully open (letting sky through). Control is by remote, wall switch, or phone app.
Most louvered systems include:
Fully-loaded louvered pergolas run $18,000 to $45,000 depending on size and options. Smaller basic units start around $12,000.
Pergolas over 100 square feet typically require a permit. We pull every permit and handle inspections. For attached pergolas, we check the house's wall construction to confirm it can carry the structural load.
Freestanding pergolas need footings. In most of St. Augustine, that means concrete piers 24 to 30 inches deep. Coastal sites near Vilano Beach and Crescent Beach may need deeper footings to account for sandy soil.
Most pergola projects start with a site visit and rough sketch. Within a week we return with scaled drawings, material samples, and a written quote. Revisions are free until you approve.
Custom options include built-in planters, post wraps to match the house, integrated outdoor kitchens, and fan or heater mounts.
Aluminum pergolas with louvered roofs usually ship 8 to 10 weeks after order. Install takes 2 to 4 days depending on size and footing work. Cedar and composite builds are faster to install but lead time on materials can vary.

Permanent awnings over windows, doors, and patios — fabric, aluminum, or polycarbonate in classic styles.
Replace worn or faded fabric on an existing frame. Fresh look for a fraction of the cost of a new awning.
Motorized or manual retractable awnings that extend for shade on demand and retract flush when you want full sun.
