Fixed & Stationary Awnings in St. Augustine, FL

Fixed & Stationary Awnings in St. Augustine

Permanent Shade That Stays Put

Fixed awnings are mounted once and don't move. No motor, no retraction, no moving parts to service. They're the simplest awning you can buy, and in many applications they're the best choice.

For window shade, door overhangs, walk-up storefronts, and patios that never need direct sun, a fixed awning does the job for 20+ years with almost no maintenance.

When Fixed Beats Retractable

Pick a fixed awning when:

  • You want shade all day, every day
  • The span is small (under 10 feet)
  • You want long-term durability over flexibility
  • The mounting surface can't support a motorized system
  • You're shading a window or door, not a patio

Retractable awnings are the right call when you want sun sometimes and shade other times. Fixed awnings are for when shade is always the answer.

Styles

We build fixed awnings in several classic shapes:

Waterfall (dome). Rounded front, curved frame. The most common residential style.

Traditional slope. Flat front panel, simple angled sides. Works everywhere.

Gable. Peaked front like a small roof. Strong visual statement.

Quarter-barrel. Half-circle profile, deep projection. Great over entry doors.

Concave or convex curves. Custom profiles for modern architecture.

For historic homes near Flagler College or along Aviles Street, we often match awning style to the home's original period.

Materials

Three main material choices:

Fabric. Solution-dyed acrylic stretched over an aluminum frame. Classic look. Fabric replacement every 10 to 15 years.

Aluminum. Corrugated or standing-seam panels over a steel frame. Permanent, no fabric to replace. Works for decades.

Polycarbonate. Translucent panels that let light through but block UV and rain. Good for walkways and greenhouses.

Fabric awnings start around $400 for small window units. Aluminum runs higher but lasts longer. We walk through which material fits your project on the first visit.

Window and Door Awnings

Small fixed awnings over windows and doors are often the best ROI project on a home. They:

  • Cut direct sun on glass (reducing AC load)
  • Keep rain off entries
  • Protect doors and windows from UV fade
  • Add curb appeal

A single window awning installs in 2 to 4 hours. A full set around a home can usually be done in a day.

Patio and Carport Covers

For patios and carports that don't need to retract, a permanent fixed awning is the simplest solution. We build fixed patio covers with fabric, aluminum, or polycarbonate roofs supported by wood or aluminum posts.

Fixed patio covers in most of St. Johns County require a building permit. We pull the permit and handle inspections.

Frame Construction

Every frame we build uses welded aluminum or powder-coated steel. Hardware is stainless steel or hot-dip galvanized — mandatory for any install within 10 miles of the coast. Paint finishes carry 10 to 15 year warranties.

For historic district properties, we also build custom frames that match original hardware or architectural details.

Installation

Most fixed awnings install in half a day. Multi-unit projects take one to two days. No electrical work is required (no motors), which keeps install simple and cost down.

Lead Time and Pricing

Standard fabric fixed awnings ship in 4 to 5 weeks. Custom sizes and colors run 6 to 8 weeks. Aluminum awnings are typically in stock and can install within 2 weeks of order.
