Most awnings come in standard sizes and shapes. Ours don't have to. If you've got a space that doesn't fit a catalog product, we design and build awnings from scratch in our local shop.

Historic homes near Castillo de San Marcos, oversized patios in Ponte Vedra, and unusual commercial storefronts are the projects we handle best.

When a Custom Awning Makes Sense

Consider a custom-built awning when:

• Your span is wider than 20 feet
• The roofline has odd angles or curves
• Your home is on the historic registry
• Your HOA requires matching materials or colors
• You want a shape that isn't offered in standard lines
• The mounting surface is non-standard (stucco, coquina, brick)

For most standard patios, a factory retractable is fine. Custom is for the projects where standard doesn't work.

The Design Process

We start with a site visit. One of our designers measures the space, photographs the surroundings, and talks through what you want. That visit is free.

Within a week we send back:

• Scaled drawings of the proposed awning
• Fabric and frame color samples
• A written quote with timeline
• 3D renderings for complex projects

We revise the design until you approve. No work starts until you sign off.

Fabrication

Our shop handles full custom fabrication. Frames are welded from marine-grade aluminum or powder-coated steel. Fabric is cut and sewn by hand on industrial machines. Every seam is double-stitched with UV-resistant thread rated for Florida sun.

Lead time for custom projects is 8 to 12 weeks from design approval. Complex jobs with oversized frames can run 14 weeks. We give you a firm install date when we start fabrication.

Historic Home Projects

Historic properties in the Lightner Museum area and Lincolnville require special care. Old coquina walls, plaster finishes, and original fascia boards can't always support modern mounting hardware.

We build custom mounting brackets that distribute weight across solid structural members. Where hardware has to be visible, we powder-coat it to match existing colors. In some cases we work with a structural engineer before final design.

Oversized and Unusual Shapes

We've built awnings over 40 feet wide, curved awnings that follow roof arches, and multi-tier awnings with stepped projections. If you can sketch it, we can usually build it.

Oversized spans often need support posts at the outer edge. We match post design to your home's style — classic turned wood, plain steel, or decorative iron.

Fabric and Color Custom Matching

Beyond standard Sunbrella and Dickson colors, we order custom-dyed fabric for projects that need an exact match. Lead time for custom fabric adds 3 to 5 weeks. We also paint frames to match existing trim or an HOA color spec.
